Review set to boost DVLA services

28th March 2014

Van and truck operators will be able to access more DVLA services online as a result of changes announced by Roads Minister Stephen Hammond.

The changes, set to be implemented following a wide-ranging review, will also mean services are tailored more towards users’ individual needs.

“The changes mean drivers will find it easier to access more services online rather than filling out paper forms or spending valuable time on the phone,” Stephen Hammond said.  “The review found that not every customer has the same needs and the changes will reflect this – for example by providing simpler bulk transactions for key customers such as fleet operators and hire companies.”

On the recommendation of the review, following the changes to online services the DVLA will also become a centre of digital excellence which will provide training and guidance for other government departments.

The DfT is also combining the work of the Driving Standards Agency and Vehicle Operator Services Agency into the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency in a bid to improve service to industry and individuals.
