Daimler Trucks Make an Appearance in Transformers 4 Movie

19th June 2013

Michael Bay has released pictures of the new, updated Optimus Prime, the leading big rig in the "Transformers" series, as the vehicle will appear in truck form in the upcoming "Transformers 4." The new machine looks sleeker and more upscale than before, a vehicle any trucker would be proud to take out on the highway.

Manufactured by Western Star, a division of Daimler Trucks North America, the new Optimus Prime has the traditional dark blue paint job with stylish red flames highlighted by pinstripes, as well as gleaming exhaust stacks that curl up to the sky at an angle from behind the cab.

The re-designed Daimler truck will be used for the character of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, who it has been revealed will continue to be voiced by Peter Cullen. The film itself will be released later in the summer, with a U.S. release scheduled for June 24th, 2013.

In the past Optimus looked pretty cool — but not that different than the trucks you see on the highway. This time out he's a bit less about function and more about style.

For many fans of Daimler vehicles, the use of the truck in the film will demonstrate yet again how versatile the vehicles are. Just like Mercedes vans and trucks, they can be custom-built and tailored to a huge range of different purposes, including, it seems, for transforming, shape-shifting robot aliens!
