Mercedes-Benz at the CV Show

8th May 2012

With exciting new products from Project-X, the loudest van on the market, to the ultra-quiet Vito E-CELL, Mercedes-Benz’ presence at the 2012 CV Show was 50% bigger than last year with double the amount of vehicles on display. New Actros

The star of the show was New Actros, the most fuel-efficient truck ever built by Mercedes-Benz and winner of the International Truck of The Year 2012 award. Unveiled to an audience of 500 guests at a special event on the evening before the Show opened – in both Euro 5 and Euro 6 formats – it is the product of ten years development and 20 million kilometres of road testing. It has also enabled Mercedes-Benz to dispel the myth that Euro 6 is less fuel-efficient.  A 10,000km road trial, monitored by DEKRA, proved a 7.6% Euro 5 and 4.5% Euro 6 improvement over the current Truck of the Decade and the Guinness World Record holder, the Actros.

In addition to the vehicles on its stand, there was also representation from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Mercedes-Benz Approved Used Commercials, FleetBoard and CPC Driver Training, highlighting the complete package the company is able to offer. “It is not just about moving metal,” Sam Whittaker, Mercedes-Benz’ Director for Truck Sales and Marketing, said at the Show.  “Just as important are the overall support, relationship, help and advice. “For example, one in three of all of our commercial vehicles are funded through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.  When High Street banks are closing their doors to the industry, we have an appetite to fulfil our customers’ needs.  To put that into perspective, over 90% of all customers who apply are credit approved.”
